Easy-Read Prayer Book for Russian Youngsters

With Jewish prayers transliterated into familiar Cyrillic letters, children storm the gates of Heaven

From Zaparosha to St. Petersburg, the early summer mornings echo with the sound of Jewish children singing the morning praises at Jewish summer camps across the CIS. Now that portions of the Jewish prayer book have been transliterated into Russian, the campers no longer have to struggle with foreign Hebrew letters to say the words that have fortified the Jewish people through the ages.

In the new 62-page book, Tzivos Hashem broke down the Hebrew words of the main morning and Sabbath prayers into easily read Russian syllables. Instead of explaining the prayers with a dry, literal Russian translation, a brief commentary at the end of each prayer gives a thought-provoking overview of its meaning.

With every word, once-oppressive atheistic Soviet dogma disintegrates a little more.
