Colorful news, views, and holiday how-tos for far-flung young Jews
In a land where receiving personalized mail
– even junk mail – is a rarity, there is great excitement
four times a year in 14,000 households when Jewish children from
Kiev to the steppes of Siberia receive their very own copies of
Yeladim, a magazine expressly for Jewish kids. Stories, puzzles,
jokes, games, and interesting articles fill the 24-page, full-color
publication. Each issue covers the history and significance of an
upcoming Jewish holiday and features a contest to encourage the
performance of holiday rituals and traditions. For many children,
who live hundreds of miles from a Jewish community, Yeladim is their
lifeline to Judaism.
