to Kids Clothes, Gift, and Craft Drives
Teaching the joys of caring on both sides of the Atlantic
When American children send toys, clothing,
and crafts to their age-mates in the CIS, it’s hard to tell
who receives more. With each package, the children in the CIS, many
of whom live in the Benenson Homes, get more than a nice warm coat
or a shiny new toy; they get the sense that someone a world away
cares about them. On the other side of the Atlantic, American children
who participate in these drives learn a precious lesson. Saving
up to buy a gift – as basic as a pretty hair brush and mirror
set – helps American children appreciate how much they have
and how wonderful it is to share.
